I’ve got a stall at Covent Garden  this coming Sunday, just in time for Christmas. It’s in the Jubilee Market on the far side of the central Market Square.

As well as my dolls I will be offering my ink drawings and cards for sale. If you are in the area then please pop by to say hi and see the gals. They are hoping to find homes and make someone’s Christmas.  You can still commission one in time Christmas if you’re quick. Please email me if you’re interested in any on offer, or details of what you require in an original one of a kind doll especially designed for you.

I’m going to have to apologise that I haven’t been able to link the new dolls from the ‘Dollz for Sale’ page.

Please click on the names across the top of the home page to see the pictures.

I will attempt to sort this out and work on my techno-incompetence a.s.a.p.

Yesterday I came across this sad/sweet little Video by Ben Jacobson for a song written in part by one of my favourite authors, Neil Gaiman.

Watching this, I thought how poignantly it conveys how isolated some children are, growing up where the Western way of giving in material terms is so often the substitute for love. Being nurtured and loved for your individuality is so important and so often overlooked. I was really saddened but not surprised at some of the responses on the Facebook feedback thread. I know far too many kids who seem to have everthing but actually have never really shared anything with their parents or felt accepted and loved for who they are. You can have too much ’stuff’ thrown at you in the name of love but you can never have too much unconditional love.

I can’t pretend I never fell into the same trap when raising my children. I think almost everyone does at some time or other. It’s a pitfall of the lifestyle we find ourselves pressured to follow. But I think not having much money for ’stuff’ was actually a blessing back then. It meant we had to be creative and my children, now grown, are nothing less than that in the way they approach their lives.

I found the video quite beautiful. The little girl (Holly Jacobson – The Director’s daughter) is superb and very expressive. The origami reference really got to me as my youngest son sometimes struggled at primary school, so I’d make a little bird out of the bus ticket on the way, for him to keep in his pocket. Occasionally now, more than a decade on, I find one next to my bed at night.

Johnny Depp in stuffed felt.

It’s no secret that I have been for many a year,  a big admirer of a certain sweet bloke named Depp. His ability to create such diverse and interesting characters  constantly astounds me. and he’s pretty easy on the eye and ear too.I’m also a big fan of Terry Gilliam and Tim Burton.

A few years ago, for my own amusement and that of my close friends I immortalised some of Mr. Depp’s characters in stuffed felt. Here are the results. (Please note; these are not for sale and no copyright breach is intended)

Fred Abberline – From Hell

These two are now the property of Mr. Depp himself.

Sweeny Todd

and last but not least -

Raoul Duke – Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

and here’s Johnny surprisingly willing to take custody of his alter ego and mentor.

This is late in posting but I have an excuse. I forgot to take a camera along and have only just managed to get my mitts on some photos from the day.
We had great fun and the village was as bursting with visitors as usual.
I spent all my time painting an unending stream of little faces. I shared my stall with Pinky’s Kimono dolls. www.pinksemporium.com and Jay’s Jewels link to come shortly.

Many thanks to Pinky, Judy and especially my man Mel for the company, support and making sure I got fed and watered in between all the brushwork.

I have photocards of my dolls now available to purchase at £2.50 each. please enquire by email.
